Personal trainers and online coaches: It's time to get your content in shape!
With the exponential growth of the fitness industry over recent years, standing out from the crowd has never been more important for personal trainers.
Potential clients have an array of individuals and organisations at their fingertips as they look to go on or progress their fitness journey and achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
So how do you go about ensuring that clients trust you enough to choose your services?
In a field diluted by mass competition, showcasing your brand with professional digital content is vital.
There is no better way to attract clients, both existing and new, than with quality photography and video content.
And there are a number of ways to enhance your social media output and increase your online presence.
Gym and lifestyle photoshoots
As a PT, the gym is your second home. You’ll use a piece of machinery or equipment without even thinking about it. To your clients, the gym can be an intimidating environment.
Seeing the inside of the gym you operate in can allow them to build up the confidence to start their fitness journey, as well as seeing that you know what you’re doing whilst there!
Equally, your clients need to trust and be comfortable with you. Use photoshoots and videos to get your personality across. If someone is going to spend multiple hours with you over an extended period, it’s pretty important they like you!
Why not share your life outside of the gym? Whether that’s going for a daily walk or doing your meal prep, show that there is far more to being a personal trainer than your time working out!
Top tip: Work with any providers or use any supplements? This is the perfect chance to show them off as well!
Case studies & testimonials
As I’ve said many, many times before, why tell people about what you can do when you can show them instead?
Clients want to work with you to reach their fitness goals, whether that’s weight loss, weight gain, toning up or improving their 5K time! Ultimately, there’s no better way to highlight your impact than with success stories.
How do you do that then? Well, there’s a number of different ways…
The first, and probably most simple method, is with progress photos and videos. Show exactly how a client of yours has gone from where they were to their end goal with your guidance and support. They may have been around for a while, but don’t underestimate the impact of transformation content!
Going beyond before and after photos can help show the lasting impact of your service, too. Yes, your client has achieved their goal, whatever that may be, but what about how it has impacted their life? Maybe they’re more confident in social settings, maybe they’re now set to look their best on their wedding day, or maybe it’s pushed them to take on a marathon!
The only people better placed to talk about your service than you are your clients. If they working with you, let them spread the word for you with a powerful testimony.
Top tip: Your own progress in the gym is another great way to show that you know what you’re doing. Don’t forget that you yourself can be a great marketing tool!
Social media
What social media accounts do you use, and are you using them right? Content you post on Facebook may not be suitable for your audience on Instagram.
Catering what kind of content you publish on each platform is vital for engaging with your audience and the better you engage with them, the more likely you are to turn interested individuals into paying clients.
Top tip: Think about what you use each platform for in your own personal life as that’s a great indicator of what others will use them for, too!
Ongoing content plan
Reaching your target audience is one thing, keeping their interest is another. Populating social media channels and maintaining an engaging online presence can be stressful.
Creating a monthly content plan allows you to focus on your results in the gym and the kitchen, and I can take care of the rest!
